Our tour starts in the distinctive capital of Austria - Vienna, which will
enchant our visitors from the outset. The old city of Vienna, which is
characterized by the Habsburg reign, Schönbrunn Palace, St. Stephen's
Cathedral and the Giant Ferris Wheel in the Prater park are all not to be
missed. From there it goes over the Semmering, to the Europe-famous
pilgrimage site of Mariazell. We ride through the heart of Austria's
charming Salzkammergut region, on the way to the nearest urban
Highlight - Salzburg, the birthplace of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Salzburg
means ‘salt castle’ referring to it’s massive fortress and the white gold from
the mountains in the south. The city’s magnificent Baroque town centre is
easily explored by foot. From here we will begin our crossing of the Alps,
which will lead us through the Hohe Tauern National Park and on Austria's
highest mountain - the Grossglockner, on the way to the Italian border.
From Cortina d 'Ampezzo, we reach the Dolomites - the majestic gray stone
monuments that stretch like immaculate rows of teeth in the sky. We cycle
through the unique landscape of the Rose Garden Latemar Region and from
here we reach the South Tyrolean capital of Bolzano. The stimulus can be
discovered in many ways - whether the typical Italian macchiato in one of the
many street cafes or during a visit of the Bolzano Domes.
From here heading south, the sparkling blue ribbon of lake Garda between
the steep mountain flanks emerges - a region that has become world famous
as a biking paradise. Along the east side of the lake further south is the
beautiful and historic northern Italian city of Verona, where the love tragedy of
Romeo and Juliet took its course, the ancient Roman built Amphitheatre here
cannot be missed. Cycling east to Venice, which will represent the culmination
of the tour. Venice is known as the most charming, romantic and unique city in
the world - built on 120 islands, connected with 400 bridges and criss-crossed
by 160 canals. Instead of cars and trams, motor-boats and romantic gondolas
are used as transport. Enjoy!
